What a fantastic lunch at Osteria del Tempo Perso in Ostuni! ![]()
Two days ago we had one of our best meals in Puglia so far. We started with a chilled aperitivo and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes with bread — they literally tasted like candy.
For our first course we shared a light and delicate eggplant parmesan, very different from the heavy, cheesy version we know back home. Then came two incredible pastas — I had the sea urchin spaghetti and my wife had spaghetti alle vongole. Both were outstanding, we honestly couldn’t pick a favorite.
For the second course we shared an order of fall-off-the-bone tender black pork ribs in a honey sauce that was absolutely delicious.
Dessert was next level. I had a dreamy chantilly with baba rum — honestly one of the best desserts I’ve had in Italy — while my wife enjoyed their homemade ice cream.
The service was outstanding too — friendly, professional, and experienced. These Italian gentlemen have clearly been doing this for many years. They spoke perfect English and were incredibly helpful and kind.
We ate in a beautiful historic setting right in front of an ancient stone oven. The building used to be the town’s public forno, and it makes for such a unique atmosphere.
The only tricky part is finding it — the old town streets are narrow and winding, so leave a little extra time and don’t get discouraged if you circle around a bit.
Highly recommended if you’re in the Ostuni area
