We visited the Dundee Manor while I was in Boeing school in Seattle. I had the weekends off so Lori and I decided to visit the Vineyards of Dundee in the world famous Willamette Valley. Lori selected the Dundee Manor. She had spoken to Brad on the phone and was convinced this was our kind of place. Some inn keepers run there places for money and other because they love it. Brad and Dave fall into the ladder category. They place has beautiful grounds that are meticulously maintained by the inn keepers. The rooms are all decorated lovely and kept immaculately clean.

Brad so proudly displays his culinary prowess by preparing a wonderful breakfast. They do taste as good as they look. Speaking of breakfast on our first departure I had to leave at 5am to be in school early, Dave got up early and prepared scones and coffee for us to take on the road. Lori immediately informed me not to expect this at home. I just mentioned our first departure we enjoyed ourselves so much we went back the very next weekend.

When we departed the second time, we felt like we were leaving our long lost friends behind and can’t wait to return.

We highly recommend the Dundee Manor to all.

Located in the Heart of the Willamette Valley wine country. I think the food speaks for itself. Elegant dining, great wine and excellent service.

A favorite with overnighting airline crews from around the world. The portions are large, beer is great and it’s cheap. What more could you ask for?? I have had better food for a few Euros more but it’s still a fun place.

As the sign says “Voted NYC Best Pizza”. I won’t argue with them it is wonderful. Even the wood burning oven has received rave reviews from the other side of the pond.

They serve only the finest fresh ingredients. This is the real deal!!!

I have dined at the Union Square Cafe several times and have never been disappointed in anyway.  The menu is always “Fresh” and creative. Service is friendly and professional.

Taverna Trilussa, Rome, Italy

We have been to Travena Trilussa several times and that alone is saying something. There is a good mix of locals and tourists in this rather large restaurant.

The food is solid homestyle Italian and served in very large portions. They have a very nice selection of  Prosciutto as you walk in you can see them aging.

We tried many dishes here and always seem to come back to our favorites the Prosciutto and Carbonara. The service is friendly and adequate.

ZUZU Ramen Brooklyn NY

When I heard one of my Flickr contacts was taking on a new position as Chef at ZUZU Ramen in Brooklyn NY, I knew I had to visit. I loaded up the car with four hardy eaters and set out to try everything on the menu.

The Amuse-Bouche of Tataki of Bonito Loin Pickled beet salad Chilled Tomato broth  the chef really out did himself.

The first included:

  • Mini Pork Buns with Braised Pork Shoulder, Scallions, Cucumber & Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Seaweed Salad with Mesclun Greens, Cherry Tomatoes and Citrus Vinaigret
  • Pan Seared Pork Dumplings with  Shiso Seed Dipping Sauce

I love pork so I was a very happy camper after eating these wonderful first courses.

The mains included:

  • Hot & Sour Ramen with Shrimp, Tomatoes, Thai Basil & Lemongrass
  • ZuZu’ Ramen with Charshu, Slow Cooked Egg, Bamboo Shoots & Seasonal Vegetables in a Smokey Dashi Broth
  • Green Curry-Miso Ramen with Charshu,  Slow Cooked Egg & Seasonal Vegetables

We inhaled all the the mains; they were that good.  I’d have to say  the “Green Curry” is my favorite.

The house special desert was a refreshing ice cream dumpling.

I can’t wait to get back to ZUZU to see what Scratch has got in store for me next.
